Families can cut back on eating out costs by using family-friendly eating establishments whenever possible, especially if you have younger children.
Keep track of the age limits of free or discounted meal offers and days of the week they are available. Many local restaurants offer one or two free child menu meals for each paid adult meal. In many cases, a family of four using this strategy and ordering water can eat out for only $20 or less.
Some local chain restaurants have specials when burgers or meal deals are half price on certain days or hours.
Instead of ordering dessert or drinks, stop by the store on the way home and buy a half gallon of ice cream to share at home instead for less than $5 for the whole family.
Do remember to tip your wait staff for what would have been the full cost of the meal when discounts are applied.
